What do the LED indicator lights mean? (Bivy Stick Satellite Extender)

Modified on Wed, 28 Aug at 10:57 AM

The Bivy Stick uses three different LED indicator lights to communicate its battery level, signal strength, and status. When powered on, the status light indicates whether the Bivy Stick is communicating with the satellite network.

Power Indicator Light

This light, located next to the power button, shows whether the device is on. To preserve battery life, it normally remains dim. Press the power button quickly to brighten the light and check the battery level.

Green: 50-100%

Yellow: 20-50%

Red: 0-20%

Signal Light

Located at the top of the Bivy Stick, the signal light indicates satellite visibility. It turns off after a few minutes to conserve battery life. Press the power button quickly to turn the signal light back on.

Green: Strong

Yellow: Medium/Weak

Red: Weak/None

You may occasionally see the signal light flashing green. This means the device is acquiring a GPS location lock and should only last a few seconds if you are out in the open. It will not get a GPS lock if you are inside.

Status Light

This light is beneath the signal light.

Yellow: Message is being sent

Green: Message has been received

Blue: Currently tracking your location

A flashing green light indicates an incoming message has been received but not yet sent to your smartphone. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone and that the SolusGuard app has the satellite connection switched on. If the yellow light stays on for an extended period, try moving the Bivy Stick to a location with a clear line of sight to the sky.
